'Sup Momma??

Dominic's language skills are just off the wall all the sudden. As the teachers say "language EXPLOSION." He is saying so many new things, crazy things. "What you doin here?" "'Sup Momma?" "hey dude" "That my toy" "Get out my room!" "Go Away!" "I don't wanna" "Stop it Day-un!" "Thomas go down tracks!" He still parrots my questions a ton but hopefully that will end sooner or later. I know parroting is fairly common with Austism but his teachers don't think he has that at all so that's good. He also answers with a "mmmmmm" alot too which I need to ask the teachers about. Not like "um, no thank you." Just a long long "mmmmmmmmmmm" An example would be.....

ME: Dominic what did you do at school today?
Dominic: mmmmmmmmmm School Today
Me: Dominic, what did you do at school?
Dominic: yes school.
Me: What did you do there?
Dominic: Do school.
Me: What did you do? Go outside? Paint?
Dominic: Outside....paint.

Usually when he answers with yes first it means it's true such as "Do you want a drink?" "yes, drink." It's still frustrating but atleast he's getting better. The one thing he'll talk plain as day about is trains. "train go down track!" "Look momma train!" Even though he's doing so much better, I'm pretty sure when March rolls around he'll get in on the 2007-2008 school year on another IEP for Special Education. His behavior has improved as well and he seems to be more patient as we made it to Colorado without too much fuss out of him! We're not through with temper tantrums but his attitude has become a bit better when he doesn't get what he wants, we usually have to do some compromising with him though. LOL
