Trying To Saving A Buck Or Two

One of my favorite shows on TV has got to be Jon and Kate plus 8. Kate cracks me up!! She reminds me so much of myself and my patience when it comes to Dave playing with toys instead of helping out and not being able to tolerate a dirty house. Other things like snapping in public and embarrassing her husband, etc. lol Dave watched the episode the other day with me of her getting the 6 babies down for a nap so she could go grocery shopping by herself. She had this whole plan of attack on coupons for this and that and a calculator so she didn't exceed how much she had. Then she says "my job being a SAHM is to save us as much money as possible." D looked at me and said "why can't you be like that?" I looked at him like WTH? I replied, "excuse me? You're telling me my OCD of cutting coupons and and weekly shopping trips for free or next to free things is not saving us money?" Well I guess she just looked better prepared and I must not or he really thinks I just don't save us much money! Sure she had hers all divided up and she took them ALL in. I have this huge case. Would you take this into the store at every visit? I usually use a small cloth coupon system for items I've noticed in ads but I usually leave THIS thing at home so Mia has place to sit in the front of the basket.

He seems to forget that I paid $3.50 for this stuff like a month ago.

Or that I bought 4 boxes of Totino's Pizza rolls (he loves) the other day and spent .80!! No pic because they are all gone!

What about the fact that I got $115 in rebates this month....and there's another $25 on the way?!!? The Walgreen's rebates, Office Max, Comp USA? Who does all those? What about the free UPC toys the kids get in the mail all the time that I am always sending off for.

He doesn't seem to notice that when I leave the house, I always have big list of a ton of things I've saved up to do in one trip or the fact that I downgraded my request of a gas guzzling Suburban to a new 2008 Dodge Caravan. lol I buy gas usually once a month in the van and it's about $70 once I get my extra .02 cents off a gallon using my grocer card. Oh yes I save on gas too but that seemed to skip his memory. I also get an extra .10 cents off each gallon when I use the coupons our grocer gives us for buying $100 in groceries a month.
But anyways~ I think I work hard at saving us money but obviously he's blind to it. Anyone else have this problem?

I am not near as good at it as you are, but I know what I do do gets unnoticed. I am incharge of all bills, bank accounts, and spending. He really has no idea what we have!

Wow! How do you do this? You are too good. I must learn. I want free Pop Tarts. Teach me, Obi Wan Kenobi, your padawan apprentice is ready.

My husband would bow down and kiss my feet if I got him free Keebler Elf cookies. :)

Wow. I agree with Wendy please teach me how to save money! I cut coupons every once in a while but they never seem to make it to the store with me.

I must learn how to do this too. I am getting a bit better, now that I am shopping at Aldi's... but I still have a LONG LONG way to go!

Blessings,
Karla

I have a suggestion for you that mght show Dave how much you're saving. My mom always pays the full price at the grocery store, and then asks for the savings back in cash. Maybe you should try that, even for a month, so you can really show him what a difference coupons make
