In 2012
Do you think the World will end on December 21, 2012? That's a scary thought for a 7 year old after her little smarty pants geeky classmate Pearson told all the kids on recces. She asked me this last night and I kinda stood there shocked it came out of her mouth. I asked where she heard it from and she said Pearson. I told her we were all going to be fine and she's not going to die in 6th grade. I don't know. What do you think? Should we trust the Mayan Indians who lived back in 1000 BC will be right?? I sure hope all the other kids on the playground weren't traumatized by this. She seemed to find comfort when I said we would be OK.

Wow....thats crazy that they would talk about that on the playground. Funny thing is...I asked brad last NIGHT about that very same thing.
We started going to a members class at our church...and last night they talked about "the coming" ....like it was a great thing and they couldnt wait.
Well, it scares the shit out of me (pardon my french)
So I was a little "ruffled" last night with that talk.
Cause I can take something and RUN with it....I start thinking about it WAY too much. (kinda like the whole 1999 into 2000)
I am glad she is comforted by your words, and SHAME on that child.

Sounds like that kid listens to a few to many adult conversations!!! I hope is doesn't end then I have way to much to do!

Parents need to be a litle more careful about what they say around their kids-- or at least they need to explain what they are talking about if the kids are standing there.
It is really funny how many "ends of the world" have been predicted. I think this kid must have heard some adult conversation or it was mentioned on TV or saw it online, who knows!! Poor thing! I am glad you were able to comfort her.
