I Am Sooooooo Not Done With This Deal.

I went on a bit of a shopping spree (with my gift cards) last night. Made some chicken fajitas at 6ish, Got kids showers and baths at 7, in bed by 7:45-8 pm. After getting the volume level down to a bare minimum I pulled out my coupon box and the sales flier for our Dillon/Kroger store since the sale ended last night. I was really slacking as you can tell doing this hours before the sale ended but I had been glancing all week at the flier so I knew what was on there and what I had coupons for. Well Kelloggs if you noticed in your Sunday paper came out with a Back to School flier with a huge amount of coupons on their products. They do this every year and this is my 3rd or 4th time to participate. Are you ready for this? After I send in the lovely rebate form above, the below products will be $4.62 ($1.62 of that is tax) I could have chosen cheaper items to make it totally free but these were the ones I chose for this offer. The Special K Protein bars were more expensive, I should have done the regular cereal bars. Anyways I have been putting the word out to family to give me theirs if they don't want it so I can do it over and over. (just have to send the rebates to their houses. ;)

Here's how I worked it with their sale prices:

Eggos $1.50x2= $3 - $1 coupon = $2 for 2 boxes

Rice Krispie Treats $1.50x2= $3- $1 coupon= $2 for 2 boxes

Nutrigrain Bars $2 x2= $4- $1 coupon= $3 for 2 boxes

Keebler cookies $1.50x2= $3 - $1 coupon= $2 for 2 boxes

Special K Protein Bars (for dh) $2.50 x 2= $5- $1 coupon= $4 for 2 boxes

$13.00 product

$1.62 Tax

----------

$14.62- $10 Rebate = $4.62

Another Play Last Night

I bought this as well last night, seperate receipt from the rebate offer. Now all our stores double here so if the coupons were .50 that makes it $1 which is why you'll see $1 so much. lol

Hunts Snack Pack 12 pk- $2.00 x 2= $4 - $1 coupon= $3 for 2 Boxes
Betty Crocker Cookie mixes $1 x 7= $7 no coupon. :(
Capri Suns $1.50 x 2= $3 - $1 coupon= $2 for 2 boxes
Huggies Lavender Wipes $2 x 2 containers= $4 - $1 -$1= $2 for 2 containers!
Lysol Spray Cleaner $1.50 x 2= $3 - $1 -$1= $1 for 2 bottles (that's .50 each!)
Lysol Toilet bowl cleaner $1.50- $1 coupon= .50!
Lysol All Purpose $1.50 x 2= $3 - $1 -$1= $1 for 2 bottles (again .50 per huge bottle!)
Ken's Light Italian Dressing $1.50 x2= $3 - $1 -$1= $1 for 2 bottles (.50 per dressing!)
Dr Pepper 2 liter $1.49 - $1 coupon= .49
Glade Warmer w/lavender oil $4.69 - $4 coupon = .69
I also got 2 fuel coupons so I can get an extra .10 per gallon at the gas pump. It doesn't matter how much you spend total, they go buy how much your merchandise comes up to before they do the coupons.

OYNO's.... A Bargain Shoppers Best Friend.

Most people believe if they have a coupon, they're getting a good deal. In most situations that can be true but even better deals come from stores that double. ;) I've explained in the past using your coupon against store sales, you'll get some really great deals. But sweetening the deal with OYNO's (Off Your Next Orders) is the best deal ever, well besides free. Nothing can top walking out of a store with free items!

This past week one local grocerry chain had a slew of OYNO's throughout the store. What are OYNO's? When you buy so much of certain products, out pops a coupon from a printer attached to the register. Some places also call them Catalina's. Call me a nutjob if you will, but I go down every isle looking for bright yellow tags on shelvees explaining specifics of the OYNO, pull out a pad of paper writing it down and then come home looking for coupons and then returning. Why? Here's an example.

Toaster Strudels SALE $1.99 each (Buy 4 or more get $4.00 OYNO) Take (4) .50 coupons in to store that doubles making my 4 coupons $1 each. TOTAL PRICE I PAID= $1.00 each Not only did I get 4 toaster studels fo $1 each box, I also recieved a $4 coupon for my next shopping trip there.

Sometimes Catalina's may be offering money off a certain product you had bought which is still not a bad deal but honestly if you find an OYNO offering "cash" off your bill, well that to me is better. So I will happily go through my fliers this week looking for more awesome deals that I can pair with my coupons to use my $8 in OYNO's on.

Just Trying To Keep All The Crud Away

Don't say I never helped you get any freebies. lol If you keep all the Sunday Coupons go digging for these 2. One says $1.00 off any Purell, the other says $1.50 off any Purell both expire in December I believe. Well to get THIS many free Purells I obviously had to ask people for theirs if they didn't want their coupons. The best part was that I had 6 left and went into Walmart to find that they had marked their huge bottles with 12 oz in them (bonus bottles) down to 2 for $3.00! So those $1.50 coupons made them all free. I THOUGHT getting the small 2 oz'ers was a good deal before that! lol One of the best things about this deal happening at Walmart was the CASHIER even got excited and that my friends is a rare event if you are a avid couponer. When she saw the bottles she must have thought "nutjob" but then when the coupons came and she started scanning them she got a big ol' grin saying "wow those are all free?! That's awesome!" Believe me though when I say a few years back Walmart employees were not thrilled at all when I walked out with 120 boxes of free Electrosol.
So you may wonder now WHY did you make such an effort for 15 bottles of free Purell and WHAT are you going to do with all of it? First anything free to me is well, very exciting. My husband laughs when I get free sample of Kashi, Nabisco crackers, or even a small tampon box in the mail and I am all smiles about it. So the Purell I am donating nearly all of it to the Grade school. Dave wants one big bottle for the office. My Mission? Keeping the germs at bay. Let them use as much as they want in a day! lol Slather a dime size of Purell on their grubby little hand whenever so they can all keep healthy and hopefully they won't be bringing home crud for all of us parents to deal with. I highly doubt my idea will work but it's worth a shot right? ;)

Savings Right Under Our Noses....

I said the other day that I would try to post some deals and tell everyone how easy it is to get something for nothing. Well I'll try to give some pointers I've picked up over the years. I am not as good as some out there. I just do what I can when I have time.
  1. Always compare sale fliers to use with your coupons. You would not believe how many people think B1G1F is a good deal and totally forget "hey I may have a coupon for that!"

  2. If your grocer does the specials for the print out coupons from the register....DO THEM! For example, I bought baby food awhile back and used some coupons but the signs said something like "buy 8 and get .75 cents off your next purchase. You buy and get coupons off ANYTHING the next time around and you can do that multiple times and use your coupons for those things. Sometimes they'll say off a certain product, etc.

  3. Walgreens pays you to buy! I know CVS and Rite Aid do too but we don't have either here in Kansas. Not only do they do the Easy Saver Rebates but you can use your coupons on the products too. Walgreens also does weekly coupons for their store and you can use manufacture coupons too for a double whammy which usually equals FREE.

  4. Keep your coupons filed and in your car at all times. I have a hard time luggin mine in but I tell ya, if I see a ton of something on clearance at Target on Toothpaste and I have coupons in my car you'd better believe I'll go to my car and drag my case in.

  5. Do rebates! Even though they are the biggest PITA, do them! There are places like Comp USA and others who are starting to do them online which is awesome.

  6. Kids love freebies so I often do the UPC deals for the kids. Kelloggs and Eggos have them often. These items are usually easy to find coupons to.

  7. Get All You magazine!! I swear they put top dollar coupons in there!!! Also Taste of Home, Family Circle and Redbook usually put an insert in their mags each month.

  8. Make time to look. I have no time during the day so usually cutting, sorting, scavaging for deals is done after the kid go down at 8.

Ok so here's some of my plays this week. PS: These are not THAT great but still good! First I got 2 rebate checks in the mail yesterday! $30 Whoo hoo!

Then here is my load from Target. 4 Purell- all free and actually my coupons were for more than each purell so I had about a .60 overage that was used towards the rest of my purchase. 8 bags of candy= $1 each, 2 Johnson Buddies Soaps = Free + .14, and Diego Sprinkler toy for next year $2.49. I used a gift card for the time they overcharged me which had $3.96 on it and my total with tax was $8.76!!

Next Walgreens. I bought 2 Four pack Scotts 1000 sheet TP for .50 a piece. I bought the Extra 8 pack gum packages 4 of them for FREE. I bought 2 Trident Splash for FREE. 6 Dark Chocolate M & M's= $1. 2 Hefty Zip sacks for $.89 cents each. Total = $4.76

So that's todays deals! I'm sure I'll have more later this week. My son (Damien) was just happy to have all the m & m's making todays trip quite easy! LOL!

All Better....I hope!

Jenn- I first wanted to say THANK YOU for the box tops this week! My daughter was so excited when I told her the envelope was for her!

Poor Mia. The child has been a nightmare the past two weeks. The screaming....the crying...the insanity!!! First was the 103.4 + temps, then it was the double ear infection, then diahrea and now thanks to Omnicef she is fighting a yeast infection. I noticed Friday she was red all over the little "taco" area and started treating it like a diaper rash but then the bumps started and I knew we had a bigger issue to address. I called the Ped on Saturday morning and they called out a script of Nystatin Ointment. Every potty or poop diaper diaper she screamed and cried. When I'd change her she'd keep crying and start this "har har" type laugh almost nervous like. It's hilarious! She seems to be doing better today and her area down there is clearing up quickly.

We had another uneventful weekend. Mainly due to lots of rain. We cleaned the garage and went to church. Have you ever been listening to a sermon and then wanted to kick your husband in the leg like "did you hear that? Did ja??" Well this week our message was over Isaiah 43:18-19. It basically starts by "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past........" Well, Dave has been all upset with me this weekend because I messaged a friend from highschool on MySpace and asked if he would be interested in doing some electrical work here. There was nothing between us but friends back in highschool I was always at his apartment, etc but I do know he would have probably liked more. He actually was the school drug dealer to tell the truth but he is NOTHING like that now. When we had kids, all illegal activities were stopped and he has done the same. lol So like I said he's nothing like that now but still Dave doesn't want him coming around here. Now that he's responded back with "yeah sure when do want me to come by?" I'm unsure if I should just go ahead and finish pissing Dave off by having him over or tell him I'll get back to him.

In other news.... I found some freebies this morning I thought I'd share. Our mail lady probably thinks I'm a loopy nutjob because of all the samples I get daily. Got 2 sample packs of the Nabisco Garden Harvest crackers this weekend and ate them on the way to the soccer games. They are SUPER YUMMY! They contain 1/2 a serving of fruit or vegatables in so many chips. We got the Veggie and Apple. My kids preferred the Veggie!!
